Nikki
I have always wanted to be in the Travel Industry and in March 2008 was lucky enough to be offered a job at Seniors Holiday Travel without any previous experience.
I have since completed my Certificate 3 in International Retail Travel and been accredited by the International Cruise Council of Australasia. During my time at Seniors Holiday Travel I have been lucky enough to experience Darwin and New Zealand on familiarisation tours, both with AAT Kings.
Before getting this fantastic job I had a little bit of travelling experience. I had travelled to San Francisco, LA, Mexico, Vancouver (only for 1 day though so I could play in the snow) Seattle, Paris, New York, London, Singapore and cruised on Pacific Sky and Queen Mary 2. In May 2009 I travelled to Norfolk Island with my family and as a result I will be personally escorting our October Group to Norfolk in 2009.
My most recent adventure saw me exploring Africa for 2 weeks with a mixture of camping and staying in some luxury lodges. It was amazing to fall asleep listening to the lions roaring and waking up to monkeys playing on my verandah!! In Africa I travelled through Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. The highlight of my trip was seeing the Big 5, and I don?t mean in the distance where you would need the binoculars and a camera with a great zoom to be able to see them. No, these animals were right beside our game vehicle and boats. I also was a bit adventurous and ate some game (Eland, Kudu, Crocodile, Ostrich & Warthog) and also ate the local worm know as Mopani Worm ? not a very pleasant experience but I did it so I would get a certificate as a reminder.
I'm not sure where my next holiday destination will be because working in this industry as you can imagine it changes every week!
